I know its been a while, since I’ve put up anything on my website, so I’m trying to fix that. I’ve been focusing on my new album right now, “The Love I’ve Seen” . It’s a contemporary R&B album. It has so many different genera’s of music I had to at least pick one.

For a long time in my career being a independent music producer . A great chunk of what I used to make music with was software based. I was a kid that didn’t have money for MPC’s and expensive hardware, though I was a big fan of them I just didn’t have access to them so I just did my thing with the software I had.

The beginning was always hardware based, back in the 90’s, most music was made using hardware, but now in 2010, almost 14 years after my “official’ start in music production. Things are about to come full circle for me with Maschine.

I’ve messed with MPC’s enough to know few reason why I loved and disliked em. Again I lived a live doing great music with out it, but working with it, the pads and the ease to crank a rythmn together was a great feeling and great experience.

The thing about the MPC I didn’t like was  that I could load and find samples as quickly as my PC, as well as having to sit back and track everything in. With FL studio, I just knocked that step out with a few clicks.

What I am hoping is that Maschine will  provide the feel that the MPC prodives, and the speed and power of my  computer.

Looking ahead, and the maschine is not the only thing I’m getting into.

On this post I will feature all of the different videos which contains, pretty decent tips about the industry.
I’m not sure if I will compete for a while, till I have came up with something a little more southern influenced that will better suit the pallet of the judges.

The good thing is, when you make your own albums independently, no one can reject you, or stop you from getting your own placement on it.

After the performance I was approached by two different artists who were intrested in my singing hooks, which is cool I don’t mind doin that. Could be fun.

May do it again this Friday, but I’m not sure, I might be tapped out after this beat battle thats coming up. I’m gonna go through my whole library to find what I think is the best.

It’s alot goin on, and its fun. I pray God will keep me and bring me to a higher place through all of this.

His name is Drummer Boy , Christopher Gholson.  He recently moved to Atlanta in 2004 , which is about the same time I moved to Atlanta. I guess I’m starting to see the trend personally of Atlanta, sorta being that musical mecca to go to. Though I haven’t benefited from it the way I want to. Back to drummerboy.

He’s produced plenty of hits that you hear on the radio, that have been played repeatedly through the day, and from what I saw at the studio, he has no intention of slowing down. Either that Cadilac is  paid for, or maybe he’s lookin to get his Lambo. I don’t know, lol.
I’m just on the outside looking in.

To me, 90% of his tracks are of the southern style production. Theres just about a 808 snare mixed with Clap in every track.  A quick attacking 808 kick , accompanied by low base notes which can also be easily achieved with the Dillie Base VST plugin.

I took a look at his rig to see if there was anything secret that I needed to get a hold of for myself.  I saw a Roland Fantom.  A white synthesizer, Access Virus TI2 Polar Integrated Modeling Synth. Which goes for about $3000.00. It’s a very pretty synthesizer and I imagine it has tons of features for costing that much. I also saw a MPC400, and also a mac computer most likely running Logic.

I felt pretty confident that I could pull off any sound with in that rig, with the massive sample and plugin library I have, but the only difference is the practice in my engineer and mixing of the beats. There is a sound there, a sheen, that I’m still working on achieving myself. I don’t think its a production issue. Synths and samples are easy to achieve. The art of mixing it, is another thing.  In which I have some more things to learn. I honestly think the information is out there, and I intend to find it. It’s mostly kept secret. Which I understand, I don’t go telling everything I had to struggle to learn on youtube, because they didn’t struggle like I did to find out.   On the other hand, I don’t feel credible to even give advise on that, because I have only landed one placement back in 2004. I’m still trying to get to my next one some how.  Which is what I should be working on.

I also ask myself… Will smoking weed give me a hit? It’s a trend I’m seeing in a lot of producers around here in the A.   I kid.

Well, I’ve learned alot observing him. I wish Drummer Boy the best and I hope to have a success of my own , similar to his one day.

I mostly feel it in my chest, alto of times , its when I’m doing something, I should not be doing.   I remember when I was part of quixtar, and for a long time I thought this was for me, and thought this was the right thing to do. Often times when I was there at the meetings at the hotels or loosing valuable money missing work to go to a function. I would often feel this feeling in my chest. I put up with it alot, cause I thought I was supposed to be strong.

Needless to say after being involved with that company two years, I stopped participating in that company, and what do you know , that tense feeling my chest is gone.

I think that your body doesn’t lie to you , and reveals to you what your heart, guts, and soul feel about what your doing, or it could be a tool God uses to speak to you.

I know that sometimes doing the wrong thing, can show you clearly what the right thing is to do.

I am talking about Shondre Crawford, or better known as Bangladesh in the urban music industry.  According to wikipedia, he was originally born in Des Moinse, Iowa. According to wikipedia, he started producing in 1998, but didn’t get his big break till 2000 on the hit single ,”Whats your fantasy” made popularly known by the artist Ludacris.
