Sep 22, 2019 by dilliot2k - Comments Off on What loops were used in Jhene Aiko’s “Sativa” ?
When I was browsing sounds I was hearing a sound that I recognized from one of my favorite songs, and so I decided to do some research and found out that the sounds come from a library I am already subscribed to. Goes to show you that you can use loops and get placed on a major album. How about that?
I also used FL studio to make the beat , but honestly you can use any platform to make this track.
The sample libraries used for this beat remake are:
VOX – The Vocal Toolkit Vol. 1
Medasin – Microdose Vol. 1
Both of these sample libraries are available from Splice:

For the 808 I used the RSOUND Dillie BASE plugin:

Jun 12, 2019 by dilliot2k - Comments Off on How to arrange a song on the MPC Live.
Song Mode
A full length song, or beat on the MPC platform is a series of patterns that are chained together. These smaller patters are the building blocks for a song. So for instance you could have one patter represent the intro of a song, another patter represent the verse, and then another pattern could be the hook. Once you understand this it is extremely easy to make a full length song on the MPC.
The MPC has two basic modes when it comes to sequencing. The pattern mode lets you switch between patters on the fly, while the song mode allows you to link patterns together. To go into song mode would hit the menu button and then tap the song mode in the options menu.
What you see on the Song mode is an empty list. To populate this list there are a couple ways.
Now that you have a list of patterns in your song, now you can either hit play to listen to the result, or you can convert the list into a new sequence.

Jun 03, 2019 by dilliot2k - Comments Off on Where is a good place to get producer tags? The answer is HERE!
Have you ever heard of Voice Tag Gods?
If you haven’t, you should probably check into this website. They have a nice selection of different people and different styles you can choose from, and as you scroll down the list, you will see a list of producers who have used this resource including myself. They have a great product although the turn around time feels a little lengthy to me, they made up for it with the quality of the tag that they emailed me and I’d easily come back to them again for another if I don’t want to record my own. However that may have to be another article.
If you want to hear what they have to offer. Click This.
Jan 10, 2016 by Dillio - Comments Off on How to talkbox with Massive like a boss.
When I first got into talk boxing. I thought that I need an expensive keyboard like a Moog Model D or a hard to find keyboard like a DX10 just to get the sound right. However that is not the case and in this article I will share with you a simple list of things you need that won’t cost a lot of money to get you started.
Originally released in 2007 from Native Instruments. Massive has been one of the main go to synths for a long time. It painted the landscape for the dub-step movement and also provide a great platform for sound design. It’s 3 oscillator platform with multiple wave-tables, filters and effects made it a powerhouse in all musical genres.
This is the plugin in which you will need to use the preset I designed. If your a owner of Native Instruments Maschine, your copy comes bundled with this plugin.
Majykbox Preset
This preset features my own personal settings that I developed to provide the most efficient and flexible option available to get the best talk-box sound. To use this , simply download the preset and load it up into your instance of Native Instruments Massive.
Computer or Laptop
Got a computer ? You are good. Laptop? Same thing. Because this is a preset that runs on a plugin you will need something that can run it. The cool thing is that you can use Native Instruments Massive inside of a D.A.W. or you can run it stand alone. When I recorded my Grown Album I actually used a second computer to run the talk-box separately from my main daw. This enabled the most efficiency.
Talkbox
This is the most important element of this setup. The talk-box is what bridges the gap between the preset, the computer and you. There are various talk-boxes on the internet and my first one was a Banshee Talk-box. It worked pretty good.
Patience
I know this is the part of the article that gets kind of lofty and I normally like action and practical steps instead but this is the part that can not be taught. In order to have this work for you , you have to stick with talk-boxing and continuing to build up your skill. After that, make a video or post it on you-tube or social media with the hashtag: #majykbox
