Here are a list of quick ideas and solution to help you get rid of that annoying sound in your Monitors.

  • Switch to balanced cables
  • Check to make sure the power outlet is grounded by using a tester
  • Use a SPIDIF optical audio device.
  • This is a dangerous solution that you can use at your own risk and that is to use a 3 prong to 2 prong adapter,
  • Make sure the audio interface isn’t near the computer
  • Make sure all of your drivers are up to date

I know its not much but I know that when i was trying fix this issue I solved by switching outlets and making sure that outlet was properly grounded.

Cymatics Music Networking Event – Atlanta, GA Review

Jun 16, 2019 by dilliot2k - Comments Off on Cymatics Music Networking Event – Atlanta, GA Review

Now coming in I had briefly seen a Cymatics sample library here and there but I was not really familiar with the brand. However what I gather it is a group of creatives providing samples and presets for music produces not online my own company hint hint. I was able to meet with Steven from the company and we shared ideas and I was able to hear from him what his vision and direction was for the company. Not only that I was taking notes on what he had at the event which were very nice. There were free drinks and food at the event. Alcohol at the bar if you wanted a little something.  There was a merch table and I was able to win a Novation Launchpad which was really cool. Now I can do some videos about that.

Meeting Kato:

While I was hanging around at the event definitely those who know about music producers today or who have gone through the wormhole of of content when you put in the search for beat stars or selling beats online, you are going to run into Kato the producer. He had his camera guy and was answer the questions of different producers including my own. He really dropped some dimes and some encouragement which was real cool. Most of the time an accomplished music producers lays low, and to be honest I don’t blame them, if I were in their shoes I would do the same. One of the things I’m paying attention to is his strategy for creating content which is what the crew for Cymatics were doing. I believe he and their crew both know that in todays age of social media , providing content is the new way to increase your brand.

Onc of the things I would like to do more of but is by no means an exact science is networking. Sometimes you have to come out of your shell and meet people and learn about what they are doing. The cool thing about events like this is that you have a free pass to meet strangers that you wouldn’t not speak to otherwise. With some of the people I spoke to I learned that everybody journey is different. Some may be further ahead of you and taking a break while others are still figuring out the first step. The most important thing is to focus on your journey and don’t get to caught up in what everyone else is doing. It can end up being wasted time and a distraction from you working on you.

To be honest somethings you can look around the room and be like damn, everyone here trying to do the same thing I am doing but at the same time looking at Kato as well as the Cymatics crew I have learned that the key to moving your brand forward in today’s age is content. The more familiar people with you and your brand, the more accepting they are for what you have to offer. I learned a lot from tonight and I look forward to learning more. If you have a chance to attend one of these I would definitely recommend it, you never know who you will meet or what positive things may be the outcome.

How Distrokid is the next wav for Indipendent Artists

Jun 14, 2019 by dilliot2k - Comments Off on How Distrokid is the next wav for Indipendent Artists

Do you remember the time?

I remember a time when it was a big deal just to get your music on a popular platform like iTunes. It was as thought you were not legit until you got your music on that platform, of course this was the time the ipods were popping. At this time you really didn’t have too many choices.

Before streaming was the move.

While I was streaming on blogtv while bringing traffic over from my youtube channel, one of my viewers told me about tune core and how it can be used to get your music on itunes. This of course was a big deal, sure I would pay the fee that they would charge to put my music on iTunes and other music services platforms however there was a problem. See, I am an independent artist who has not yet mastered or acquired enough fans to render enough sales to justify the recurring installment that would happen every year. This fee would land somewhere around a cool $50 dollars, and on top of that , that was just for ONE album. Needless to say that the return on investment became smaller and smaller while the fee to keep my music online remained the same. At the time I had about 3 albums on the platform so imagine how I felt paying about $150 a year while seeing that I’m not making that in sales, and also keep it in mind that this was not streams. So I cancelled the subscriptions and off went my music.

A good option but still expensive.

Enter CD baby. CD baby offered something that tune core did not. With a one time fee, your music would be featured on all the popular streaming platforms with one fee. However, singles would cost you $10 to upload and albums go on there for around $50 and or above. This was great however it discouraged me from uploading my back catalog because of the high entry point knowing that I still may not have to many people listening to my music at this time.

Cheap, Affordable, Fast.

Now there is a new player in town. Distrokid. To be honest when I heard about the recurring fee it reminded me about Tunecore but the thing I did not know was that for the fee that they do charge yearly is that you have unlimited singles and album that you can upload. So that means for a smaller fee I can upload songs that I would not have uploaded otherwise and on top of that I could finally upload albums that would have cost a lot more. The fee is $20 dollars per year and they have upgrade options available if you want it on there permanently which brings them into the same realm as C.D. Baby.  This makes all music platforms extremely accessible for Artists as well as music producers alike. Produces can upload beat tapes and indie artists can upload their back catalog and also drop new singles without waiting to long. Another thing is that their turn around time to get your music onto the internet is pretty quick actually. The final thing is that if you collab with someone, you can set it up so they can get a cut of the sale or stream that you agree upon. These are features that you have to pay extra for on other platforms.

To be honest I was reluctant to give distrokid a shot because of my prior experiences but I think this is the wave of the future and now the hard part is just bringing awareness to the music and that my friends is something to talk about in another post.

How to arrange a song on the MPC Live.

Jun 12, 2019 by dilliot2k - Comments Off on How to arrange a song on the MPC Live.

Song Mode

A full length song, or beat on the MPC platform is a series of patterns that are chained together. These smaller patters are the building blocks for a song. So for instance you could have one patter represent the intro of a song, another patter represent the verse, and then another pattern could be the hook.  Once you understand this it is extremely easy to make a full length song on the MPC.

The MPC has two basic modes when it comes to sequencing. The pattern mode lets you switch between patters on the fly, while the song mode allows you to link patterns together. To go into song mode would hit the menu button and then tap the song mode in the options menu.

What you see on the Song mode is an empty list.  To populate this list there are a couple ways.

Now that you have a list of patterns in your song, now you can either hit play to listen to the result, or you can convert the list into a new sequence.

Sit back and relax. Congratulations you have created your first song.

Once you have done this on your own a few times, it will be come second nature and it can become extremely fast process to arranging your songs on this platform.

How to deal with Anxiety being a music producer.

Jun 08, 2019 by dilliot2k - Comments Off on How to deal with Anxiety being a music producer.

For the unknown music producer.

This post was inspired by a comment that I saw on my YouTube channel however it was deleted, and I wanted to respond to that person in depth but however I can’t even find the comment or remember who it was from, how ever it did touch on some things that I also deal with myself. Often times it can be stressful after watching tons of YouTube videos of successful people on YouTube platforms talking about how they started with nothing but they now work full time in their passion. Our feeds are full of of tutorials, motivation videos and countless other content that still leaves you wondering what you do next.  So then you take it further and you run into pay-walls for help. Memberships, Courses, and so forth. I can’t hate.  It’s the natural progression own your platform and charge admission to feel connected. You-Tube was once a place full of people experimenting, going viral by accident to now a bunch of videos that create value that ultimately funnels you to the next list or course or membership with no guarantee for your success. In full disclosure I’m learning the same tactics and employing them myself so I’m not exempting myself from trying to make the same moves. This can be stressful for someone looking to find their own way, and even can produce anxiety as well, so using resources like IV infusions for mood disorders could actually be helpful making you feel better and able to carry on with the work.

I feel that I am speaking from a interesting place. My music career hasn’t change my life yet and I’m still learning new things. Most of the people we search on YouTube has had major success and thats good for them but ultimately it is up us to figure out our own paths. To be honest these are things that I think about myself and I came up with some statements I have read in my comments and some thoughts that I have had and I wanted to share some new ideas on how to deal cope with the Anxiety of wanting to have great success while at the same time fighting to survive.

“How come it’s them and not me”

This is a question that can come up and to be honest there is no clear answer for that. There are extremely too many variables. Everyone works hard, everyone has a dream but life isn’t a set of steps you can do right to expect a specific result. Life doesn’t work that way. I think real life is you doing everything you believe to be right and things still don’t work out to your favor and I don’t believe that because things didn’t work out means that you didn’t do everything right. I think it’s a good idea to visit their stories if they share it because you may find a nugget that can help you. You don’t have to like the person and honestly you do not have to like me, but I have learned that sometimes there could be information that can help you. Asking yourself how come it’s them and not me is only the result of comparing yourself to someone else. I admit that I do that, it’s a habit on that I’m breaking every day so that I can stay more focused on my own path. Let go of this question so that your hands and mind can be more free to focus on getting your own your own way.  Everyone’s path is different. Don’t be afraid to make your own mistakes and learn your way. Focus less on the success of others and focus on discovering new ways to help you make yourself successful. It will be time better spend.

I am happy that they made it and If I keep trying new things , trying other things again and stick with it I can make it too.

“I have been at this a while”

So you’ve been working at this music thing for a while, you have had small victories and people know you for what your good at however you have not been able to make a full time living off your music. On top of that you hear of younger people reaching their dreams and goals at a much younger age and then you wonder, how come that didn’t happen for me at that age.  The interesting this is that this happens for a ton of situations not just musical aspirations. Do you ask yourself compare yourself if someone younger than you lost a loved one while you have been able to enjoy other loved ones for a much longer period of your life.  Or what about the person who have had a life altering injury at a young age, do we feel anxiety of missing out on that? If your like me you may wonder why your day has not come yet, but I submit to you that instead of thinking about it that way , that you think what else can I learn to make my day come. Learning never ends, there is always a book, a YouTube video and if your fortunate enough a human being who knows the way and can guide your path.

I no longer compare myself to those who have achieved their dream before me or after me because it play no part in me reaching my goals.

“I’m not making any progress”

I know the feeling , you upload something, people don’t watch it, or share it and it doesn’t get the traction you think it should. To me this is the best time to start doing research.  Obviously everybody looks at videos and like I said in the beginning now some of them are basically the start of a sales funnel but however I want to submit to you to not be afraid in trying that course and also don’t be afraid to ask someone else what was their experience with courses and consultations. E books are another good option and even audio books are a good option as well. I have a saying and that saying is dig the dirt and find the nugget. You don’t have to fully like the personality of the person or fully vibe with who they are but try to put that aside and take a closer look to see if there is a new idea or mindset that you can adopt to improve yourself. The times that we are stuck are the the best times to invest time and resources into self improvement.

The next time I feel confused and I don’t know what’s the next step I will ask questions, do reserarch, and study and I believe that if I do this, I fill find the answers I’m looking for

I know that the internet is wide open and often times there is no clear path to follow and your still in the position to have to try multiple things without the guarantee that it works. Your not alone how ever you can still learn and still grow, do your best to focus on your own path. Be grateful for the success of others and also anticipate greatness and success for yourself. Try things again, try different things, Study, and take a break if you  need but never give up if this is what you truly want to manifest.

In a previous post, I mention a website that does a good job with voice tags, but in my searching around Instagram I found another gem that I will be using in the future and I would like to share with you. This site is call Liisvoice. I features both male and female vocals and they are about $25 a pop with effects. Definitely something you would want to check out if your shopping for your next voice tag.

Where is a good place to get producer tags? The answer is HERE!

Jun 03, 2019 by dilliot2k - Comments Off on Where is a good place to get producer tags? The answer is HERE!

Have you ever heard of Voice Tag Gods?

If you haven’t, you should probably check into this website. They have a nice selection of different people and different styles you can choose from, and as you scroll down the list, you will see a list of producers who have used this resource including myself.  They have a great product although the turn around time feels a little lengthy to me, they made up for it with the quality of the tag that they emailed me and I’d easily come back to them again for another if I don’t want to record my own. However that may have to be another article.

If you want to hear what they have to offer. Click This.

Cahaya Melodica Review

When Cahaya contacted me about doing a review for some of their products, I was kinda puzzled but I decided to look at their product line anyway .

What would an Artist and music producer who makes tracks with Analog Moogs, Banging MPC’s and high  end gear do with a simple piano harmonica?

Well, this is what happened.
